Jonathan A. Grella
Jonathan Grella is the founder of JAG Public Affairs, a firm he launched in 2019 to provide specialized, high-impact communications and advocacy services. With well over two decades of experience, Grella has earned a stellar reputation as a dynamic leader and communicator across diverse fields including politics, corporate sectors, associations, and professional sports.
Grella served as Chief Communications Officer for LIV Golf, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the startup league’s communications functions and managing its global profile during its formative season. Prior to this, he spent six years as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs at the U.S. Travel Association. In this role, Grella elevated the association's government relations, communications, marketing, research, grassroots initiatives, and Political Action Committee (PAC) to unprecedented levels of success.
Grella’s uncommon versatility extends to his tenure as the head of communications for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he transformed the franchise’s public relations operations. His extensive public affairs experience also includes serving as Senior Vice President of Communications and Strategy for Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE), a policy advocacy organization led by top CEOs and military leaders. Additionally, he held the position of Vice President of Public Affairs and Media Relations at Edelman, one of the world’s leading communications firms.
Grella’s career began on Capitol Hill, where he served as Press Secretary for the House Majority Leader and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Politics from The Catholic University of America and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Villanova University.
Grella was a key member of the Public Affairs Council’s Executive Committee and co-founded Villanova University’s Public Policy Advisory Council. Outside of his professional endeavors, he dedicates time to coaching youth sports in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where he lives with his wife, son, daughter, and dog.
